We may be biased, but we think that these days this mantra applies to all types of business (and perhaps could use 2-3 more ‘locations!’). So, when deciding what cool features to show off this week, we decided to go back to the basics a bit. We are (re)introducing you to the basic ways that you can display your location data on your map inside of CleverAnalytics.
Which data-visualization method is best?
That’s kind of like asking us which is our favorite child. They each have specific areas where they shine, and you’ll get the most out of CleverAnalytics if you learn how to use all of them. The best part is, that they all utilize our user-friendly and intuitively interactive map.
This visualization method is based on state-designated divisions of the area. You can see data broken down into cities, counties, districts, etc. Besides these municipal designations, this view also takes into consideration other divisions such as natural boundaries, historical and cultural divisions, population density, land use, and other useful information which will give you clear zones in which you can display the data.
Example: Number of customers in Wards
This visualization shows a grid of homogenous hexagonal cells. Unlike other views, this grid ignores all naturally or artificially occurring boundaries. This gives you a completely uniform view of the displayed data so that you can easily perform spatial analysis on any selected indicator.
Example: Customer density being displayed on the grid view
This visualization shows the density of the selected indicator(s). In this view, several factors can combine to show a single measurement of desirability of the location. For example, number or customers, households, and points of interests can all aggregate into a single heat map.
Example: Exposure Index of the surrounding area
This visualization uses simple circles which shows highly specific locations of each data point. Unlike the heat map, each data point remains separate and they are not aggregated into a single, larger, indicator. Because each data point has its own representation, this is the most specific visualization for doing very detail-oriented spatial analysis.
Example: Individual addresses of customers of a shopping center in Birmingham
Newly, you can visualize your data in CleverAnalytics using lines. This visualization allows you to display linear data points such as streets, utilities, or even the movement of people and vehicles. The intensity of the observed indicator is displayed via the thickness of the line.
Example: road and distribution networks for bike-based couriers
